Das Projekt

Lourdes Lim was an accountant for four years for a garment manufacturing firm. She left her work in the garment industry, when she had the opportunity to work in Russia. Returning to the Philippines with no job, a friend from the firm she worked before suggested to try being a sales agent. Instead she thought of venturing in the actual manufacturing of garments itself.

13 years ago, she started Lourdes Lim Garments with 12 sewers catering SM Malls (Shoemart - one of the biggest line of malls in the Philippines.) She went on employing around 40 sewers and now with only 17 sewers. With lots of business ups and downs, Lourdes Lim persevered to help her employees by hanging on to manufacture garments. As a responsible employer, she gives her employees full benefits for Social Security (SSS) and Medicare (PhilHealth) which is not common in the Philippines for businesses her size. She still employs a 68 year old sewer and who was with her since the start of the business.

Lendahand’s partner NPFC is helping Lourdes Lim Garments in acquiring additional raw materials to boost the production and support incoming orders by granting a P150,000 working capital loan payable in 12 months.
